buy snowskis

Hire or Buy - that is your option

Choosing a pair of snow skis that are perfect for you in all conditions can be a challenge.

The choices are just to many and with every manufacturer claiming that theirs is the best it’s no wonder confusion reigns. But don’t despair, because it is possible to get a pair of skis that you will be happy with most of the time as long as you take some sound advice from ski salespersons that have been around a long time.

Hire Snow Skis.

Renting snow skis has its advantages. For the beginner it’s the best option till your ready to spend the required dollars needed. Beginners advance very quickly and can get away with almost any modern short wide carve skis. Its only when you hit that ice will you appreciate a quality top end ski.

For the advanced skier performance or Demo renting is great if the skis underfoot have been well looked after, but unfortunately not all hires take care of expensive skis and you may end up with skis that won’t perform because of a previous users abuse. Better snow ski shops, that are not after the mass market, will prepare and check all demo skis before letting them out. A few dollars more will be worth spending.

Buying Snow skis.

Its not all that complicated as long as you listen to advice from ski shops that have survived the test of time. Tell them everything about yourself.

What have you skied on before?

How often do you ski, what runs do you prefer. Be honest with your ability, Surviving down a black run is not the same as attacking the fall line over and over again. How fit are you, do you want to ski all day? Years ago the good skiers had to put in years of hard work to be proficient on a pair of 195s or 200 s .

With modern short skis you just need to spend a bit more and the learning curve is straight up. Every year there always pops up a ski model that just works great. The Rossignol bandit – B1 – B2 is a classic example.

Guaranteed a smile from ear to ear for all round skiing . On or off-piste. . So why do manufactures have such a big range for intermediate to advanced? To cater for all price levels. Some snow skiers wont spend the money, so they take out some of the features . Or for those very few elite, almost racers, they make a ski that will hold an edge at sound breaking speed. You will need good technique and upper thigh muscle strength to work these.

Twin tip skis and Hybrids.

Best description is different. And not necessarily better. Apart from the fact that they ski in both direction and are more parks and half pipe specialist, they can ski the rest of the mountain pretty well. If you are bored with your high-end carvers then a twin tip hybrid with the bindings set back is a great alternative. Bumps, powder, ice, and moderate speed are well within their capabilities, and without that thigh burn at the end of the day as this type of ski are just plain easy for any level.
